āš” (Total read time: 3 minutes) āš”

Confession: Iā€™m in grad school and working full-time. Had a couple of papers due this week. Thatā€™s why this is coming out in March and not February. Please forgive me. I had nothing but good intentions. I promise. Anyway, onto the gaming news/stuff/items.

Ā šŸŖØĀ 1 great 3rd-party book you need to check out

šŸ‘¶šŸ§ŠĀ Born From Ice. This is kind of a combo third-party book/podcast item. On Mondayā€™s episode (releasing March 5) of The Goblins and Growlers Podcast, Josh and I interview Loren Small, the creator of ā€œBorn From Ice.ā€ Itā€™s a complete tabletop setting thatā€™s built on Fifth Edition but takes place on Paleolithic Earth. All cavepeople, all the time. Oh, and I should probably mention that thereā€™s no magic, so everything is harder. It has some other cool aspects like generational play. BFIā€™s Kickstarter launches Tuesday, March 5 and you can check it out here (once itā€™s live). Itā€™s coming with a core rule book, a bestiary, and an adventure path. I was excited about it even before talking with Loren.

Hereā€™s the video of our interview. Itā€™s long, but I encourage you to check it out ā€” it sounds like itā€™s going to be a fun take on 5E rules:

šŸŽ§Ā 3 hot takes from the podcasts

  • ā™£ļø Deck of Many Things. Josh picked up a copy of ā€œDeck and of Many Thingsā€ after production issues delayed its release. Spoiler: It was worth the wait. This is Wizards of the Coastā€™s highest-quality release in a good while. Obviously, the cards are the centerpiece, but the accompanying book has a ton to offer as well. (Spotify)

  • šŸ”„šŸ§ÆĀ Help! My Game is on Fire!: We had a special live Twitch stream of our podcast recording and did a version of one of our favorite convention panels, ā€œHelp! My Game is on Fire!ā€ We took live questions from GMs and players looking for advice on dealing with sticky situations at their tables. (Spotify)

  • šŸ’•Ā A Different Kind of Match Game. For ā€œQuid Pro Roll,ā€ we recorded an absolutely bonkers, off-the-rails Valentineā€™s Day episode. Itā€™s an in-universe, non-canonical 1970s dating game. As we were planning out the recording, Alex was like ā€œbring your horniest characters.ā€ By the end of it, she was recording a disclaimer to run at the top of the episode. Itā€™s 100% the nuttiest episode weā€™ve done in a long time. (Spotify)

šŸ§Ā Goblins in the wild: Where to find us.

  • šŸŗĀ Stone Brewing Game. We have an event coming up on March 12 at Stone Brewing Richmond. Itā€™s one of our old-school first-come, first-served games. Check out the details here: https://www.facebook.com/events/936581804718948

  • šŸ”ŗšŸ—¾Ā Triad Anime Con. The Goblin contingent will be returning to Triad Anime Con March 29-31 in Winston-Salem, NC. Panels! Performances! Hanging out and chatting with folks in the vendor room! Come see us if youā€™re planning on hitting up the con.

  • šŸš«Ā Hereā€™s a bonus ā€œWhere NOT to find us.ā€ Unfortunately, we werenā€™t able to reach an agreement with GalaxyCon Richmond this year. This will be the first time since 2019 that we havenā€™t provided content and organized tabletop games for them. If youā€™d like to see us there next year, be sure to let them know!

šŸŒ±Ā Spring is like, two weeks away

So there you go. Expect the actual March newsletter later on in March. Again, sorry for the delay, and hopefully my homework wonā€™t be as bad this month. Donā€™t forget to change your clocks on March 10!

Have a good one!
Brandon
