šŸ‰ Pre-order Vecna Exclusive, Dungeons and Cavepeople, Toy Cars Instead of Dice, and an Off-The-Rails Valentine's Adventure

⚔ (Total read time: 3 minutes) ⚔

Confession: I’m in grad school and working full-time. Had a couple of papers due this week. That’s why this is coming out in March and not February. Please forgive me. I had nothing but good intentions. I promise. Anyway, onto the gaming news/stuff/items.

    • Instead of dice, ā€œYou will need some little toy cars that scoot off after you wind them up by pulling them back.ā€

    • It’s pay-what-you-want right now on itch.io

    • You can only get ā€œNest of the Eldritch Eyeā€ if you pre-order ā€œVecna: Eve of Ruinā€ on D&D Beyond.

    • Sets the stage for the bigger release a couple of months later.

šŸŖØ 1 great 3rd-party book you need to check out

šŸ‘¶šŸ§Š Born From Ice. This is kind of a combo third-party book/podcast item. On Monday’s episode (releasing March 5) of The Goblins and Growlers Podcast, Josh and I interview Loren Small, the creator of ā€œBorn From Ice.ā€ It’s a complete tabletop setting that’s built on Fifth Edition but takes place on Paleolithic Earth. All cavepeople, all the time. Oh, and I should probably mention that there’s no magic, so everything is harder. It has some other cool aspects like generational play. BFI’s Kickstarter launches Tuesday, March 5 and you can check it out here (once it’s live). It’s coming with a core rule book, a bestiary, and an adventure path. I was excited about it even before talking with Loren.

Here’s the video of our interview. It’s long, but I encourage you to check it out — it sounds like it’s going to be a fun take on 5E rules:

šŸŽ§ 3 hot takes from the podcasts

  • ā™£ļø Deck of Many Things. Josh picked up a copy of ā€œDeck and of Many Thingsā€ after production issues delayed its release. Spoiler: It was worth the wait. This is Wizards of the Coast’s highest-quality release in a good while. Obviously, the cards are the centerpiece, but the accompanying book has a ton to offer as well. (Spotify)

  • šŸ”„šŸ§Æ Help! My Game is on Fire!: We had a special live Twitch stream of our podcast recording and did a version of one of our favorite convention panels, ā€œHelp! My Game is on Fire!ā€ We took live questions from GMs and players looking for advice on dealing with sticky situations at their tables. (Spotify)

  • šŸ’• A Different Kind of Match Game. For ā€œQuid Pro Roll,ā€ we recorded an absolutely bonkers, off-the-rails Valentine’s Day episode. It’s an in-universe, non-canonical 1970s dating game. As we were planning out the recording, Alex was like ā€œbring your horniest characters.ā€ By the end of it, she was recording a disclaimer to run at the top of the episode. It’s 100% the nuttiest episode we’ve done in a long time. (Spotify)

🧭 Goblins in the wild: Where to find us.

  • šŸŗ Stone Brewing Game. We have an event coming up on March 12 at Stone Brewing Richmond. It’s one of our old-school first-come, first-served games. Check out the details here: https://www.facebook.com/events/936581804718948

  • šŸ”ŗšŸ—¾ Triad Anime Con. The Goblin contingent will be returning to Triad Anime Con March 29-31 in Winston-Salem, NC. Panels! Performances! Hanging out and chatting with folks in the vendor room! Come see us if you’re planning on hitting up the con.

  • 🚫 Here’s a bonus ā€œWhere NOT to find us.ā€ Unfortunately, we weren’t able to reach an agreement with GalaxyCon Richmond this year. This will be the first time since 2019 that we haven’t provided content and organized tabletop games for them. If you’d like to see us there next year, be sure to let them know!

🌱 Spring is like, two weeks away

So there you go. Expect the actual March newsletter later on in March. Again, sorry for the delay, and hopefully my homework won’t be as bad this month. Don’t forget to change your clocks on March 10!

Have a good one!
