šŖØ 1 great 3rd-party book you need to check out
š¶š§ Born From Ice. This is kind of a combo third-party book/podcast item. On Mondayās episode (releasing March 5) of The Goblins and Growlers Podcast, Josh and I interview Loren Small, the creator of āBorn From Ice.ā Itās a complete tabletop setting thatās built on Fifth Edition but takes place on Paleolithic Earth. All cavepeople, all the time. Oh, and I should probably mention that thereās no magic, so everything is harder. It has some other cool aspects like generational play. BFIās Kickstarter launches Tuesday, March 5 and you can check it out here (once itās live). Itās coming with a core rule book, a bestiary, and an adventure path. I was excited about it even before talking with Loren.
Hereās the video of our interview. Itās long, but I encourage you to check it out ā it sounds like itās going to be a fun take on 5E rules:
š§ 3 hot takes from the podcasts
ā£ļø Deck of Many Things. Josh picked up a copy of āDeck and of Many Thingsā after production issues delayed its release. Spoiler: It was worth the wait. This is Wizards of the Coastās highest-quality release in a good while. Obviously, the cards are the centerpiece, but the accompanying book has a ton to offer as well. (Spotify)
š„š§Æ Help! My Game is on Fire!: We had a special live Twitch stream of our podcast recording and did a version of one of our favorite convention panels, āHelp! My Game is on Fire!ā We took live questions from GMs and players looking for advice on dealing with sticky situations at their tables. (Spotify)
š A Different Kind of Match Game. For āQuid Pro Roll,ā we recorded an absolutely bonkers, off-the-rails Valentineās Day episode. Itās an in-universe, non-canonical 1970s dating game. As we were planning out the recording, Alex was like ābring your horniest characters.ā By the end of it, she was recording a disclaimer to run at the top of the episode. Itās 100% the nuttiest episode weāve done in a long time. (Spotify)
š§ Goblins in the wild: Where to find us.
šŗ Stone Brewing Game. We have an event coming up on March 12 at Stone Brewing Richmond. Itās one of our old-school first-come, first-served games. Check out the details here: https://www.facebook.com/events/936581804718948
šŗš¾ Triad Anime Con. The Goblin contingent will be returning to Triad Anime Con March 29-31 in Winston-Salem, NC. Panels! Performances! Hanging out and chatting with folks in the vendor room! Come see us if youāre planning on hitting up the con.
š« Hereās a bonus āWhere NOT to find us.ā Unfortunately, we werenāt able to reach an agreement with GalaxyCon Richmond this year. This will be the first time since 2019 that we havenāt provided content and organized tabletop games for them. If youād like to see us there next year, be sure to let them know!
š± Spring is like, two weeks away
So there you go. Expect the actual March newsletter later on in March. Again, sorry for the delay, and hopefully my homework wonāt be as bad this month. Donāt forget to change your clocks on March 10!
Have a good one!
